The Foundation
Nakano College traces its origins to the vision of High Priest Ven. Shushyo Koyso Thera and Ven. Anuradha Nakano Theri. Under the directorship of Ven. Kuburugamuwa Soratha Thero, the college began its journey as a co-educational, English-medium institute. The establishment of Nakano Pre-School on September 6, 2005 marked the first step in providing quality education to the Bandaragama community.
Official College Founding
On September 6, 2009, Nakano College was officially established in Alubomulla, Bandaragama — starting with a small but passionate group of students and two dedicated teachers. This landmark moment set the foundation for what would grow into the region's premier international school.
Cambridge Affiliation
Nakano received its official Cambridge International School certification, becoming the only registered Cambridge Primary provider in Bandaragama. This milestone opened doors to internationally recognised qualifications for our students and set a new benchmark for education in the region.
Present Day — A Thriving Institution
Today, Nakano International College proudly serves over 1,400 students with the support of more than 120 qualified teachers. Our modern campus is equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms, science labs, a digital library, swimming pool, and sports courts — supporting a holistic, globally competitive education.
