From Grade 1

Our Curriculum Pathways

Cambridge and National are the two curriculum pathways from Grade 1. They sit inside three school stages: Preschool, Primary School and Secondary School.

Cambridge Pathway

  • Grades 1–10 follow the Cambridge curriculum.
  • Subject selection begins in Grade 9.
  • Cambridge Primary Checkpoint at Grade 5.
  • Preparation for Cambridge IGCSE/GCE O Level at Grade 10.
  • After Cambridge O Level, students may continue to Cambridge International A Level or choose the National A Level pathway, subject to entry requirements.

National Pathway

  • Grades 1–5: the school’s own English-medium primary curriculum using a student-centred approach.
  • Grades 6–O Level: National Curriculum.
  • ICT resources from international curricula support learning up to Grade 8.
  • Cambridge English books and resources support English learning up to Grade 11.

O Level is part of Secondary School. It is not a separate Nakano school stage.

  • Medical Reports, where applicable, particularly if the child has any medical or special educational requirements

  • Proof of Residential Address — a letter issued by the Grama Niladhari or a recent utility bill
